Opin.fi is a joint continuous learning service for Finnish higher education institutions that brings together the open study offerings of universities and universities of applied sciences in one place. This autumn, the beta version of the Opin.fi service will be open to the first users. The service is still under development, and the user experiences being collected now will help in its further development. The service is scheduled to launch in late spring 2025.
Opin.fi is intended for anyone interested in studies at an Open University
More extensive competence will be needed in future working life. Opin.fi responds to this need by making the opportunities for continuous learning available at every stage of life, working and otherwise.
Opin.fi makes finding and comparing open higher education studies easy. The service is specifically designed for continuous learners with varying goals, backgrounds and needs. Opin.fi helps them find the most suitable studies for their situation in the open offerings of Finnish higher education institutions.
The Digivisio 2030 project has been developing the Opin.fi service together with 37 Finnish higher education institutions since 2022. Higher education institutions will introduce the service in phases, with the first eight higher education institutions participating in the beta phase.
The Digivisio 2030 project is responsible for building the service, and HigherEd Hub Finland Oy is responsible for its operation.
Lessons on user experiences will be learned during the beta phase
The Opin.fi service is still incomplete in the beta phase, which will be launched in October 2024. Not all of the planned functionalities are in place yet and not everything is working perfectly at this time. So far, there are also a limited amount of educational offerings available in the service from the first eight higher education institutions.
The purpose of the beta phase is to collect the first real user experiences, based on which the service can be further developed. The beta phase will last at least until the end of 2024.
The educational offering of the Opin.fi service will expand when all higher education institutions involved in its development join the service in 2025. The aim is for the service to include the open educational offerings of a total of 37 Finnish higher education institutions.
