More than 48,000 learners have already visited Opin.fi

The Opin.fi service was opened to the public in April 2025, and its marketing to learners was launched in May. During this period, more than 48,000 visitors have already visited the service!

More than 4,500 learning opportunities – with and without credits

The new Opin.fi serves as a one-stop shop for a wide range of educational offerings open to all at Finnish higher education institutions. Launched in April, the service now offers more than 4,500 different learning opportunities at 29 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences.

A majority of the educational offerings provided by the service are formal offerings, in which learners earn credits. However, the service also offers plenty of other ways to develop one’s own competence. If there is no need to earn credits, service users can familiarise themselves with more than 500 different informal and non-formal learning content, such as events, podcasts, webinars and videos.

The volume of offerings is constantly changing, as it depends on how higher education institutions post new offerings and how many of them are removed after the end of the registration period.

Data reflects learner interest and behaviour

More than 43,000 learners have already visited Opin.fi. When the service is used, data is also collected. If the visitor accepts the analytics cookies, their use of the service can be monitored and the data can be utilised in developing both the service and, for example, the educational offerings of higher education institutions.

The entire page used in Opin.fi has been a search results page – in other words, the search function has been used a great deal. Thus far, the most popular search terms entered by service users have been:

  1. artificial intelligence

2. Swedish

3. psychology

4. English

5. management

Users are also interested in the theme pages of the service, with the most popular of these being Health and well-being, New technologies and Education and learning. On average, learners spend 6.5 minutes in the service, and most users visit the service during the day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Feedback helps in further development of the service

Opin.fi users can provide feedback in the service using both the feedback form and the pop-up survey. The feedback gathered has also started to accumulate and is monitored monthly by the Programme Office.

Feedback processing involves examining, for example, how often a certain piece of feedback, wish or development proposal recurs. An individual piece of feedback does not necessarily result in any service development, but in the future attention will naturally be paid to themes that come up often.

At the moment, feedback has revealed, among other things, a need to filter the offerings according to, for example, whether they are subject to a fee or free of charge and according to the level of education. The service search function received praise from some users, while others wanted to see more precision. A desire for new themes was also expressed. Visitors could benefit from themes consisting of, for example, language and communication studies or sales and marketing studies.

In addition to repeatability, feedback is always compared to, for example, how it views service policies as well as the learner and higher education institution understanding acquired. All feedback is valuable, as further development is based on it and the service roadmap.
