The beta phase of the new Opin.fi service for Finnish higher education institutions ended on Thursday 19 December. This autumn, more than 13,000 learners interested in higher education institutions’ open education offerings have tested the service.
Opin.fi is a service that brings together the open study offerings of universities and universities of applied sciences in one place. The beta phase of the service took place this autumn between 8 October and 19 December, and the first users were able to test the service and give feedback for its future development.
Eight higher education institutions have participated in the beta phase of the service: Aalto University, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Häme University of Applied Sciences, University of Jyväskylä, Lapland University of Applied Sciences, University of Lapland, Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Other Finnish higher education institutions will introduce the service in 2025.
The Opin.fi service was not yet complete in the beta phase; the aim was to accumulate initial user experiences before the service is launched. The development will now continue based on the feedback and lessons learned during the beta version.
The service will be launched in April 2025, when Opin.fi will open to everyone interested in learning and self-development. In the meantime, you can read more about the service at, for example, https://www.opin.fi.
