Jonna Piiroinen has been appointed the new Programme Director of the Digivisio 2030 programme on 17th February 2026. The transfer of duties will begin gradually and immediately. Piiroinen succeeds Hanna Nordlund, who has been appointed to lead CSC’s Digital Ecosystems for Education (DIGIS) unit and will also serve as the supervisor of the Programme Director.
Piiroinen has previously worked as a Project Manager in the Digivisio 2030 programme and has been responsible for the development of technical solutions. The recruitment of the new Programme Director was carried out in collaboration with the Digivisio 2030 Steering Group and CSC. The search included both internal candidates and those identified through an executive search process. The Steering Group made the final decision regarding the appointment.
“The application process for the Project Director attracted excellent candidates by combining CSC Ltd’s internal search with an external executive search. Through the process, the Digivisio 2030 Steering Group also gained valuable insights into the expectations and perspectives of the initiative and higher education institutions. Based on the information gathered during the process and the resulting understanding, the Steering Group unanimously selected Piiroinen from among three strong top candidates.” states Vesa Saarikoski, Chaiman of the steering group.
“Digivisio 2030 has moved into its next phase. Jonna Piiroinen will continue to advance this unique initiative together with her highly skilled team. This has been an extremely meaningful role. I am happy to continue working with Digivisio and its community, but now from a slightly different perspective. I would like to warmly thank everyone in the project office, the higher education institutions, and our broad network of partners for the outstanding work done so far,” says Hanna Nordlund.
In the new phase of the Digivisio programme, the operational focus will include advancing the KOTI reform, strengthening the role of higher education institutions in the lifelong learning market, and expanding the target audience of the Opin.fi service. Additionally, Digivisio will support higher education institutions in deploying the HEDS/HEDI integration model. The new Programme Director will take on a broad and multidimensional portfolio of responsibilities.
“I would like to thank the Digivisio Steering Group and CSC for their trust. I am very pleased to begin in this role and to lead Digivisio together with the team. We will continue to advance the initiative and develop our activities in close cooperation with higher education institutions and other stakeholders,” says Jonna Piiroinen.
On 1 January 2026, the Digivisio 2030 programme was integrated into the DIGIS unit led by Nordlund. Digivisio’s role as a builder and reformer of the national digital learning ecosystem remains unchanged. Becoming part of CSC’s organisation enables even closer collaboration with higher education institutions and other education providers. The Digivisio 2030 programme continues to be governed by higher education institutions, meaning no changes will occur to its steering structure.
