In the future, our society will need increasingly diverse expertise. In the Digivisio 2030 project, Finland’s higher education institutions are together building the sustainable competence ecosystem of the future – a place where each of us can learn more easily and flexibly, thus accumulating the needed expertise for a constantly changing world.
During the summer and autumn of 2021, Digivisio developed in collaboration with higher education providers the concept and plan for the ‘Continuous and flexible Learning Tray’. This project is part of Finland’s Sustainable Growth Programme. The aim of the project, as part of the broader Continuous Learning Digitalisation Programme, is both to promote long-term growth by raising the competence levels among young people and adults and to create opportunities for continuous learning through methods such as place-independent learning.
“The Continuous Learning Project Planning Group has involved experts from higher education institutions and the concept has also been developed through input from dozens of experts as part of Digivision’s other development work. There has been close cooperation at the national level with the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, the National Board of Education and other actors, and this has ensured that the solutions developed become an integral part of broader national services,” explains Project Manager Heini-Maari Kemppainen.
The project is accelerating the implementation and deployment of Digivisio services, especially in relation to the theme of flexible and continuous learning. The aim is to produce faster solutions that serve learners, higher education institutions and employers. The project is also well in line with the objectives of the original project plan for Digivisio.
“The two project outputs – the continuous and flexible learning tray and the pilots for e-learning offerings – give concrete form to the goals of Digivisio and lay the foundation for all the future service development work and the emergence of a wider learning ecosystem,” states Programme Manager Sakari Heikkilä.
